Avâre Kanto takes its point of departure from the contested politics of drifting-from the potential of displacement, whether forced or voluntary, to infiltrate and erode mechanisms of control, to confuse them, to open cracks within them.
Six performers, unburdened by any past and keeping their gaze fixed on the horizon, walk without pause. In doing so, they enter the orbit of directionlessness as a phenomenon in its own right. As they assert control over the time and space they occupy-they explore how relations, affects and situations might reassemble themselves within a "non-place."
Conceived also as a six channel choreographic sound installation, Avâre Kanto seeks to embody the intersection of movement, sound, and space through the interactive, feedback-driven sound design of Fulya Uçanok and Gökhan Deneç, which places the live voices of the dancers at its center.
